Init bug related to crypttab introduced by recent updates

After installing the latest update pack, I found that my system was unable to boot, it would hang while waiting to mount an encrypted partition. This bug appears to have been introduced with the recent update pack or one of the other recent patches. Here's what I have discovered: 1. Any filesystems ...

Re: Installing SolydX on a RAID 1 array (A Convoluted Soluti

A less convoluted solution: Things you'll need: 1. Enough knowledge to manually partition your drives and set up your raid array 2. Enough knowledge to manually create your /etc/fstab Process: 1. Boot into the SolydX cd and use the terminal to set up your raid array (first installing mdadm and anyth...

Getting started

I think I am settling on SolydK as my primary distribution and I would like to get involved with development. I am an IT professional by trade, but not a developer. I enjoy coding in Python and can find my around C and C++, though not as easily, but I am by no means a coder. Nevertheless, I'm intere...

Re: DVD authoring woes and what it says about Solydxk

I understand what you are saying. I guess there may be a difference in expectations. In my mind, the repository is a place where all the software approved for use on SolydXK resides. The presence of an application in the repository is an indication that it meets SolydXK standards and has been given ...

Re: DVD authoring woes and what it says about Solydxk

I understand how these things can fall between the cracks or people can point fingers at who is to blame. But I think what needs to happen from SolydXK's standpoint is that DeVeDe needs to be removed from the repository. Ultimately, the SolydXK team chooses what they include in the repositories. I t...

DVD authoring woes and what it says about Solydxk

Part of the reason I chose this distro is because it bills itself as stable. I needed to do some DVD authoring. Since I didn't know which tool would be right for me, I didn't immediately jump to aptitude like I normally would and chose to use the graphical Software Manager instead. I chose DeVeDe be...

What is the correct process for installing Radeon Drivers?

In the past, I installed from the proprietary amd-provided installer. But this led to problems with system upgrades. I've recently re-installed and am trying to do things in a more robust way. So far, I installed fglrx-driver using aptitude and then ran aticonfig --initial. This seems to work, I ins...

Re: Installing on a raid (with mdadm)

During installation you won't be asked where you want home to be, it will just assume you already mounted everything where you needed it. So, yes, just create an extra raid device and mount it in /target/home. Just remember that your fstab will ned an extra entry in it for that /home partition.

Feature Request: Advanced Mode

The installer already features an advanced mode, which LMDE uses by default but SolydXK does not. As seen in the recent thread here: http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=748 the hidden nature of that advanced mode makes common requirements, such as installation onto a software raid, LVM, or ...

Re: Installing SolydK 201405 on an xfs partition

I don't understand your partition scheme or how you got solydk installed on xfs to begin with. But regardless the problem seems to be that you don't have xfsprogs installed. Boot into the live cd, open up a command prompt, mount all of your partitions, chroot into the installed system, and install x...

Re: Installation on a RAID 0

I was looking into how to do this myself and was confused at why, if this is the same installer that is used in lmde, it does not offer you the option to "do something else", the advanced option that lmde provides for those of us who want to set up software raid, luks, lvm, etc. I took a look at the...
