I was able to temporarily fix it with the "acpi_enforce_resources=lax" into the gub config, but this really needs to be researched into more because something from the last update and in the newest 201401 isos of solydk the fan does not work in the system on any machine I have and it always did prev...

well I also rebooted my computer and the fan works on my windows 8 I have but when I boot into linux the fan will be running until it reaches the KDM login screen. Once its at the login screen it kicks the fan off and never turns it back on again. I am still researching but its doing this on 3 diffe...

I will check those forum posts a little later got to do some shopping at the moment but why im concerned is the fans are not even running at all and they used to be before this update. I should get out my old solydK disk and see if they work on it. But thank you ill check those out later.

Personally if you are looking for a dedicated POS system that can do pretty much everything then I say to use: http://www.unicenta.com/features/ its the best I have ever used as the dedicated POS.

Actually I installed pulseaudio and it fixed the sound for him then i installed the veromix plasma widget for it, but all is good now :) thanks.

well the error is solved but now he has no sound though... whenever he tries playing anything in vlc or other things it says no sound output with "default" device. how can I check or fix this?

well good news and bad news, I didnt realize the scrollback on konsole was not set to unlimited so I didnt get it all saved in time. by the time I realized it, I could not scroll to what I did in the beginning..... :-( ... So to go into further detail he had the 201308 release I think non updated, but we changed the repos to the latest source.list and then did the update for him to be at the 201311 update pack. then he did the devede reinstall and it upgraded some other things while removing more essential files. I did the commands but still had to do the rmmod acer_wmi, and its working now. not really sure why, but maybe he just had them hidden in the network list. But thanks for the help zerozero.
