Re: Dolphin and shared folder(s)

Just checked the Dolphin shared folder issue also at the parents rig, and here no problems if I share a folder with Dolphin. It directly shows up under Network/Samba/Workgroup/hostname. but: sudo pdbedit -L shows nobody:65534:nobody $user:1000:$USER mint:4294967295:mint which is probably the solydxk...

Re: Update manager reinstall grub and Thunderbird every time

Updated my old rig, now used by the parents with:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
No serious issues until this far except updatemanager saying updates available while there aren't any, but solution for this was already mentioned in other topic.

Dolphin and shared folder(s)

As far as I can remember both on SolydK and SolydKBE I could share a folder directly with Dolphin (File->properties->share). Because of issues with updatemanager I installed both Wheezy and (reinstalled) SolydKBE. In Wheezy I couldn't get this to work, but also in SolydKBE it seems not to work anymo...

Re: Should I use apt-get or aptitude?

aptitude has a more complex resolver and will try harder (sometimes too hard) to solve dependencies (even if that means uninstall half of the system, it's a more robust package manager but also more dangerous if you are not aware of what you are doing); I experienced this last weekend when I tried ...

Re: Update manager reinstall grub and Thunderbird every time

I also noticed my swap was off (at least the BLKID was different then in my fstab). Don't know if that has something to do with reinstalling grub. I had also before with other SolydK(BE) installations...

I had more or less the same issues (apart from printer).

Re: update manager shows different results than Syanptic -SO

Hi, I came to this topic because also different result between updatemanager and synaptic (see my former posts of today and yesterday) when i type: apt-show-versions -u this is the result: evolution-webcal/wheezy *manually* upgradeable from 2.32.0-2+b1 to 2.32.0-2+b2 which is probably an explanation...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.04.15

After the issues with firefox/thunderbird and updatemanager message on my parent's PC yesterday I checked the updatemanager on my own PC (the one i'm using now) and also the updatemanager says 'There are updates available' but but shows nothing to install (same in synaptic).

Re: Update problem Firefox and Thunderbird languages [solved

I also had this problem today when i updated the parent's PC (SolydKBE). Apart from that the update manager says new updates available but will not show any new packages (synaptic neither)... With some hacking I could change the locale, although the unsollicited add-on 'locale switcher' didn't do th...

Can perfectly live with the default VLC and Amarok (KDE).

Today I discovered this 'little gem': Yarock

Firefox 24.4 ESR and 28 FYI

Hi,

just updated/graded my two SolydKBE installations. The 'funny thing' was that one installed the 24.4 ESR version and the other had the 28 version together with the firefox-solydkxk-adjustments...

no idea why, but was able to solve it manually in synaptic.

Re: Dolphin & random .fuse_hidden000 files

Same here although don't think you can blame Dolphin... I 'cleaned' my windows partition with dd if=/dev/zero etc. before making a compressed backup. Removed the big 'big zero' file, but later I discovered a .fuse_hidden file of Gigabytes of lenght, because it was probably all zerozero's it didn't a...

Re: 32bit version

Dear ScottQuier, Thank you for quick reply. I decided not to use SolydXK on that old portege m200 because it's hardware is supported less and less (nvidia go5200m). Also I'm became a fanboy of KDE after getting acquainted with SolydXK (I lie a bit because i'm also dual booting with fedora 20 on my H...
