Changes in KDE 4.13 - Where is the “Login Manager”?

Dear friends, The tool for having KDE auto-login is not here any more (I have re-installed SolydK 64 in a machine with problems, remember?). I have to enter the password every time, and cannot find the tool in the Configurations utility, nor some help on-line (this does not apply any more: http://ww...

All these will be updated through UpMan, right?

Re: How to install Tor browser?

It looks like some other distibutions (Arch, Kali, Ubuntu) have tools to ease installation of the browser bundle. I suppose creating something similar for SolydXK would be doable. I might do that some time, provided people actually intend to use it... ;) Thank you all... and I really think SolydXK ...

Is there an easy way to install TOR browser without that gymnastic with the tar.xz file? [tar -xvJf tor-browser-linux32-3.6.3_LANG.tar.xz]

Re: Problem with updatemanager

Should I open a new tread: twice, in "current I have just experienced 2 problems with the UM in SolydK 64. One machine gave me 2.3.8 twice, in current version and newer version an expected me to click in install. Another machine opened this list: upman.png Is it just a matter of closing it all and r...

Re: Home-banking and java issues

Gee, that's Greek to me :P
But I'll take a look. I had this problem in another Debian (SolusOS) and installing a newer Java, newer than Debian's default solved it.

Cheers.

Re: Thunar errors on moving files

I guess PCManFM is lighter and with less dependencies.
The SpaceFM I don't know.
And I with this forum has a +1 -1 button (only available for people logged in) because it is the shortest answer to somebody else's post ;)

Re: Thunar errors on moving files

It's recent. I didn't notice it but in the last couple of weeks...
Id doesn't break my data (I just have to do more steps to move it). So... I'll wait for a solution from Debian and SolydXK magic teams ;)

Thanks.

Thunar errors on moving files

My friends, I've been noticing something weird in Thunar when trying to copy or move files from my netbook to an external drive. Some icon (the one with 2 folders, signifying "copying") blinks like crazy in the status bar, and an error message appears later (see below). When moving, clicking on anyt...

Re: HPLIP

Oh, I wish your printers are fine, for sure :)

Can you recommend the best models to work under Debian?
At work, some colleagues are planning to buy another one and I fear it will give us more problems. Some of them are using Xubuntu and Ubuntu LTS, though (can be easier on proprietary drivers).

Re: HPLIP

Dear everybody, thank you for the feed-back. See, the printers sometimes work (printing) but present frequent and repeated problems like some window appearing saying it needs to be set up again (that is why I removed hplip from the auto-start in my present machine, at work, SK64), or the scanner jus...

First - I just noticed that you've double posted this (http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1534&p=41080#p41080). That's not playing nice. :) No!:  I started there, but decided to open a new thread and deleted that post (wrongly, I see now!). Now I have deleted it for good ;-) Sorry f...

HPLIP

This topic will never grow old, because HP is absolute ****. HPLIP doesn't solve the problems. *In some cases, every time* you reboot your machine or try to print in a laser jet printer, you get a message saying more or less "the printer should be removed and set up again, because something is wrong...

@Gonzalo_VC Even though I've not been able to help you, I am very happy you got it sorted out. I've been running the RC iso as my main machine for about a week now. I've had absolutely no problems with it. Thank you, Scott. Don't worry. And nobody is happier than me, not even Arjen  For me, be...

Sorry for posting 2 times in a row, but I'm happy!
SolydK 64 (Home Ed.) pre-reslease 2014.07 is working in this complicated machine (that was giving me a black screen after trying to boot). I'm in love, again :D
Long live SolydXK!

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Gonzalo it's odd that the installation will fail that way (the KDE problem mentioned in this topic comes with the UP and not with the isos itself); so the issue has to be somewhere else; a failed installation somehow; but where and how? The 1 million question, my friend! It is really odd. The machi...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Thanks, Grizzler and Zerozero. Yes, it is very weird the system got stuck in the log-in screen :-( What I meant with "stable" is that even the Home Edition has some point when it becomes official , not testing (in the SolydXK level, not Debian, since Solyd is always Debian-testing!) or "production",...

Perhaps.
After that, can I transform it into a "stable" (even being the home version) machine?
It is a workstation, not a testing machine, OK?

And I assume this ISO has the KDE "problem" solved. Am I right?
