Re: [TUT] enabling crossfeed effect globally by using bs2b

Absolutely. in fact it's great to prevent ear fatiguing. It has bit of a learning curve for noobs to learn the tools, but it really worths it. Check the Repair tools for starters... and bypass the limiter, clipper and compressors to not blow your headphones. Then start to tweak.

Re: [TUT] enabling crossfeed effect globally by using bs2b

I wasn't sure if telling about this tool since it's not FOSS, but maybe someone is interested. I guess you'd like it, kurotsugi. http://www.stereotool.com/ It needs registration but the basic app is free. This is something I use all the time for professional work or just listening audio from my comp...

Re: Privacy related Firefox/Weasel settings/addons

Thanks for sharing this config, ilu. I'll go through it for sure. I still have flash around in my main system just in case, but permanently deactivated. Most of my other systems doesn't even have it on board. I was happy for a couple of days but... http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/16/technology/flash-fi...

Re: [SOLVED] Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

Want the old FF speed back? http://news.slashdot.org/story/15/08/14/2321202/how-to-quash-firefoxs-silent-requests Works for palemoon too. So I will check this in IW with a brand new profile to keep my good one safe. If it works I'll apply the changes. I'll report back. firefox -new-instance -P "type...

Re: [SOLVED] Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

Hmmm... Unless adblock is now a dependency for IW40 it shouldn't be there if you didn't installed it manually from the repos or the Mozilla site. it's added in Firefox by the Solydxk Firefox customization package, but not for IW. cannot tell about the hello and other stuff. Cannot remember when I ha...

Howto mimic ChromeOS in a Linux system

You need Chromuim (or Chrome) installed. Then (from the Arch wiki): Starting applications without a window manager It is possible to start only specific applications without a window manager, although most likely this is only useful with a single application shown in full-screen mode. For example: ~...

Re: [SOLVED] Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

That's what I heard too. They share the code as they are supposed to, but they actually feel different. IMHO (wild guess, indeed) the difference is in the defaults. I cannot tell for sure. Haven't checked them. But Iceweasel is always less annoying with the fancy features, They're supposed to be the...

Re: [TUT] enabling crossfeed effect globally by using bs2b

I don't use any plugin for the system. Sometimes I use some fx chains due to the crap sound most Youtube videos have. Sometimes truly unbearable... So I can filter it a bit... or a lot! (noise, nasty brickwall limiting, proximity effect boominesss, etc...) But never use a plugin in the way for any o...

Re: [TUT] enabling crossfeed effect globally by using bs2b

For ALSA: Yet another way I used before going "Cadenced" is using the quastools. Then you can replace the alsaequal by any other plugin you like. BS2B or whatever.

http://xwmw.org/qastools/applications.html

They're in the repos.

Re: [TUT] enabling crossfeed effect globally by using bs2b

If anyone wants to take this further and expand it immensely you can get Cadence and Claudia from the KXStudio repos or their Github and use any kind of ladspa, LV2, VST plugin systemwide. Even Windows VST plugins with the Carla (or any other) host. That's the way I have my SolydK configured. ;) htt...

Re: [TUT] enabling crossfeed effect globally by using bs2b

I haven't went through all the info and links, but, this setup can be used with any other ladspa plugin. A nice way to implement a systemwide equalizer... or a flanger! 8-) This thread might be renamed as Enabling ladspa plugins systemwide. PS, Yup, it's described in the Takla's link you provi...

Re: [TUT] enabling crossfeed effect globally by using bs2b

Huh, that's amazing. Thanks a bunch, kurotsugi! For headphones using crossfeed can be very helpful, relieving or less ear straining. Hard panning can be quite annoying in those conditions -for regular speakers I'm totally fine with it-. It's a nice tool to have in the stash on occasions for a more c...

Re: [SOLVED] Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

Yes, total relief! if something gets borked but the browsed still runs you can check the settings in about:config rather easily. Everyting that it's not a default is in bold text. You can check what's the parameter that is causing problems. When it crashes you need to go to manually scan and edit th...

Re: Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

I discovered what caused my troubles. Something similar to what Hubsi_Gberg described above. I added my usual about:config tricks. Something I've been using for years: privacy.trackingprotection.enabled true mousewheel.with_control.action 0 browser.search.openintab true network.http.pipelining true ...

Re: Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

Thanks, Schoelje. Then I will import the bookmarks and install a few addons. Hope it all works fine now. Then will be time to try to find what's going wrong with Vbox. Launching it from a terminal reports nothing at all... But switching things still feels slow.

All saved and back to FF40. Fresh brand new session in its defaults. Still nothing imported or installed.
