Re: Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

First I will install Iceweasel again (phew...) and save all my bookmarks. At least it doesn't crash. Then back to FF with a fresh profile and let's see if the first error persists.

Re: Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

ok, gksudo firefox retuns nothing. No errors. just goes. But from the user here's the oputput: firefox (process:9931): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed (firefox:9931): GLib-GIO-WARNING **: /home/paco/.local/share/applications/defaults.list contains a [Added...

Re: Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

Being fully checking Palemoon and Vivaldi. No way. Back to iceweasel. Aside of that, kwin goes slower than usual starting after this morning upgrade and besides the different browsers, excepting FF. It doesn't even work right. Does it crash? Does it show any (non-Glib) errors? Thanks, Schoelje. I'll...

Will try that one too. Thanks for the reminder. I haven't checked palemoon in a very long while.

Re: Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

Well, Iceweasel 38.0.2 did it. With my old .mozilla folder (with tons of stuff in) or a fresh new one. No difference. but Kwin still fells slow with the weasel running. My system is not weak or old and the CPU and RAM usage are low and normal. Checked the processes running and I don't see anything w...

Re: Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

Now that's weird... Purged FF40 and installed the ESR version. Same problem. Renamed my ~/.mozilla folder to create a fresh new one beyond making a new profile. Everything new... It just freezes! And keeps borking kwin.... Anyone else having these problems? I wouldn't like to switch to chromium. Nev...

Re: Today's update causing problems

It's Firefox!!! Firefox is borking Kwin. I live with FF on. It's the very first thing I do after every boot. I've run killall firefox and tried for a while without it and Kwin goes back to normal. I'm typing from a virtual machine right now. Go figure! So apt-get purge --remove firefox* will be my n...

[SOLVED] Today's update causing problems (Firefox)

Anyone else having problems with the last upgrade? I've did it this morning and borked my KDE... it seems kwin is not working any good now. Tried many reboots. No difference. Also the new Firefox 40.0.2 works like crap. Amongst other visual or displaying issues I see, the bookmarks window freezes an...

Re: Breakages and News tracking Debian Testing

I haven't noticed it in Testing, really. Updated two systems yesterday with no hassles. cannot talk about today yet.

Different in Sid. It's serious in that branch. dist-upgrade wanted to pull half of the systems away.

Re: Breakages and News tracking Debian Testing

Let's cross our fingers hoping it doesn't take too long. I'm afraid it will take a long while for plasma5 and gcc5 to get their transitions completed. We should consider this as a kind of "freezing". It seems that the transition is taking long in Gentoo which started (months) earlier than Debian. An...

Re: easy switch from solydx to solydk

It's not too difficult to install a new desktop, just follow the tips above. But it depends on your goal. If you plan a full replacement, fully purging xfce is easy. but you'll leave plenty of GTK and Gnome stuff behind while getting all the Qt stuff in too. If that doesn't annoy you then you'll be ...

Re: Why did you finally stay on Solyd stable ?

For my main system I want something that doesn't break and always works. I don't want downtimes or a lot of mantainance. I have other distros rolling side by side. If they break I always have my main one going. Aside of that, why SolydXK? Because I'm constantly testing other distros and the best and...

Re: [POLL] Responsive theme for these forums

I understand and fully support the new theme for mobile devices. Anyway (after some testing) I'll switch back to the old one for my computer. Too colorful for my taste. I feel way more comfortable with the softer to the eye old theme. Besides this, I still think it's a welcome feature. Thanks, Schoe...

After Monday's backlog (75 packages), Testing has been suspiciously quiet...
Not so in Sid but not a flood either. They'll hit Testing at some point.

BTW, I'm staying on Jessie for the next two years, running testing has taken me too much time...
Yep, that's the annoying part of it. Rolling takes time.

Re: ISO testing 201504

I always wondered why timidity is usually enabled by default in most Debian based distros. Who's using midi devices for typical home or business computing? It's one of the first things I always disable. One of those typical services wasting resources for nothing.

Re: How about we do a virutal Jessie Release Party!

Debian gives the DEs in their defaults. I haven't seen any (perhaps with the exception of Gnome 3 having pretty decent defaults) that doesn't suck. And the same typically applies to WMs. No surprises that they're crap after a fresh install. They're supplied as is. Plus, it's also vanilla Debian. Tha...
