Re: Mixed Subject

Jim1938, Welcome to SolydXK :D I can see your point about Testing and Unstable vs Jessie and Sid (although I don't think there is a material difference). Jessie wouldn't work because when Jessie becomes Stable, that forum section would start following the next release, hence it being named Testing (...

Re: Site statistics

Today we passed the 100.000 visitors to our site! We also reached exactly 3600 downloads, and I think that we accomplished quite a lot in such a short time. I attached a pdf with the top views per country. It's no surprise that the U.S.A. is the absolute leader, but I'm happy to see that the countr...

Correct. Intel is loaded even when primusrun is used (both drivers run at the same time)

You could try looking here:

They have a contact section. They recommend filing bugs and feature requests here:

Re: Device Driver Manager (DDM) - help needed

Oh wait, found something. Is it normal to have an Xorg.8.log? Here's what I found: christopher@chris-laptop:~$ cat /var/log/Xorg.8.log | grep framebuffer [ 75.549] (==) NVIDIA(0): Depth 24, (==) framebuffer bpp 32 christopher@chris-laptop:~$ cat /var/log/Xorg.8.log | grep Depth [ 75.549] (==) NVIDIA...

Re: Device Driver Manager (DDM) - help needed

@cww Unfortunately, you had the Intel drivers loaded. I'm looking in the xorg log files for a line with these words: "Depth" and "framebuffer". The line in your log files indicate it's Intel: intel(0) Could you switch to ATI, reboot, and send me the log files again? The intel drivers are always loa...

Re: Device Driver Manager (DDM) - help needed

Sorry for keeping you waiting  Was playing with Arch. Didn't thoroughly examine the files, but I couldn't find any mention of primus. Just a note: bumblebee does not require a configured xorg.conf file (so don't run nvidia-xconfig or things will break). I don't know if ddm runs this for normal...

Re: Device Driver Manager (DDM) - help needed

Great, cww, that'll get me started, but it's going to take a while before we can start testing...a bit busy with other things. Looking forward to it 8-) . I don't think there are any other distros (at least that I have tried/seen/read about) that can automatically set up bumblebee. Would be really ...

Re: SolydXK and other Desktop Environments

Hope I get a bit of time and write a detailed "how to" install the Mint Fluxbox set up in Solydx. Not much different to openbox. From the few set ups of openbox and fluxbox I've seen, I think mint's was the more elegant one. I have much less experience with fluxbox than openbox, but I'd love to try...

Re: SolydXK and other Desktop Environments

I'd love to see an OpenBox CE 8-) . Honestly configuring OpenBox from the ground up is a pain  , especially the menu (which still eludes me; at this point I use synapse for most of my openbox application launching needs). If you're thinking about making one you could start a thread (even just a...

Re: Howdy

Welcome to SolydXK :D That's quite an extensive history... I've also looked a bit into Debian OpenBox; I have a CrunchBang install and a Debian Sid install running OpenBox. I've tried LinuxBBQ and VSIDO as well. Personally my favorite was the Debian Sid NetInst, but CrunchBang is a close second. I h...

Re: Device Driver Manager (DDM) - help needed

I suppose the Nvidia/intel cards need the Nvidia driver (nvidia-glx), AND the Intel driver, AND the bumblebee stuff. Is that correct? Yes. I'm not sure what packages make up the intel driver (they're already installed), but to install the nvidia driver and bumblebee you install the packages bumbleb...

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/experimental.list
And add:

Code: Select all

deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ experimental main contrib non-free
Also run:

Code: Select all

cat /etc/apt/preferences
And post the results here.

Re: Breakages and News - SolydX-tracking Debian SID

Hmm... That's the unstable version. Didn't you have a similar problem here: http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=240&start=160#p7204 and upgrade to the experimental version? Anyways, my suggestion would be to add the experimental repos if you haven't (make sure you aren't using the defualt ...

Re: Breakages and News tracking Debian Testing

Xfce 4.10 entered Testing :) . It's not a major update from SolydX's version, but it's worth noting. And you can't upgrade if you have the default apt pinning.

Re: Device Driver Manager (DDM) - help needed

I don't know much about this but, How to other linux distributions handle these dual video cards? I can't speak for Intel/ATI, but with Intel/Nvidia (Optimus) they generally do nothing. I have yet to use a distribution that automatically configures bumblebee for me (Mint doesn't, Ubuntu doesn't, De...
