Re: Breakages and News - SolydX-tracking Debian SID

I see you already upgraded to plymouth from experimental in another post, but just to make sure:

Code: Select all

apt-cache policy plymouth

Re: ufw/gufw not installed...? [Solved]

From very old ISOs (installed Feb 22), I have ufw and gufw installed by default (or I have no record of having to install them).

Re: Breakages and News - SolydX-tracking Debian SID

Just noticed inxi came to Debian Sid! I've been waiting forever for this :D (we've had it on SolydXK but it previously wasn't available for Debian).

If you still have the default pinning, you won't be able to upgrade to the Debian inxi version.

Everything went fine on my SolydX 64-bit install as well. Alacarte works as expected.

Re: UP - 31/05/2013 9:00 UTC

I can't reproduce this on SolydK 64-bit... Libreoffice 4.0.3 is working on all of my installs.

The upgrade went fine on SolydK 64-bit. At least for me, I can confirm all of the solved problems are solved (can't test alacarte here, will upgrade my SolydX install).

Re: Quidsup reviews SolydX

Just found another review (both this and dedoimedos' review are in the reviews section of distrowatch :D ): http://dasublogbyprashanth.blogspot.com/2013/05/review-solydxk-20130406.html . Only read the last paragraph (don't have time to read the whole thing right now; will read later), but that part ...

Wow, it's both great the dedoimedos did review it (he's a very big name reviewer), and that he was so positive. He can sometimes be... picky  so it's great to see that he liked it.

However, if you do that (point your sources to SolydXK Testing), be sure to change it back afterwards and do not upgrade while still pointing to the testing repo.

Re: UP - 31/05/2013 9:00 UTC

Looking forward to testing it :) . I kind of cheated and upgraded one of my installs to Debian Testing early  I did not experience the steam problem on my SolydK 64-bit install (which I upgraded to Debian Testing), which does have steam on it. However, it seems I already had it installed (I nee...

Re: Freezing

It's probably nothing, but the firefox version in Sid is 17esr, whereas SolydXK uses 20 currently (and Debian experimental uses iceweasel 21). The graphical drivers are the same as Debian's, so they shouldn't be an issue (but they could be, I don't know). Anyways, I hope you are able to try out Soly...

Re: Breakages and News - SolydX-tracking Debian SID

Yep, I just ran into this yesterday trying to install a new kernel. But every problem presents it's own benefits. In the process I moved all my listing in /etc/apt/sources.list to /etc/apt/sources.list.d (with appropriately separated files) and started tracking siduction. Siduction Repositories I a...

Re: Freezing

May be, but I don't have that problem now (on Debian). :) Sorry to see you go to Debian, but I'm glad it's working for you. Out of curiosity, what are you using for a web browser on Debian (iceweasel, firefox (how did you get it?), etc). It *shouldn't* make a difference (I believe they're all compi...

Re: Breakages and News - SolydX-tracking Debian SID

TBH I don't need plymouth (or really want it) on any of my Sid installs. It looks nice though  . I think the reason I enabled it was to test DPM (IIRC).

I also had this problem with the liquorix kernel (SolydX 32-bit tracking Debian Sid), and the plymouth from experimental solved it too. Thanks zerozero 8-)

Re: LO 4.0.1 Bugs

Yes 8-) Very exciting. It means libc6 v2.17 will also make it :) . Do those things come together (necessarily)? The library and Lo 4.0.3? Well, I don't have a clue of what it means "in fact", but obviously modern libraries mean new features, cleaner code, etc. As soon as this newer Libreoffice is i...
