Looks pretty nice for a Beta so far after my tweaks

This wireless desktop is just a play toy for guys waiting for me to finish their bikes in the M/C shop. I use it as a test bed also.
Kinda if it works on this. It'll work on anything. Rocking out to deadbeef with streaming radio while I bug check this.
Ram usage aint too crazy with what I show open in xfce taskbar. I used to run Semplice with Macpup 529. Now it is a MX14 plus Macpup 529.

I shall be putting the finished product on my laptop.
At the present rate of development I won't need to wait very long.

I'm really loving it too. Just seems totally ideal to me. A Mepis Xfce with all those wonderful antiX tools and scripts, the remastering, the whole deal. It's a perfect melding of all the right stuff.

New to it all as I am, I've not seen forum happenings so quick at Mepis! :D In just a few days there are 17 pages of posts on the MX14 thread. This could be a really hot one. I hope so. 8-)

Iframe is not allowed anymore. Click here to watch the movie.

So far my fav for fitting on a cd vs a dvd download.

I might try this out on a p3 IBM T23 I have just for seeing how low of hard ware specs this distro will go.
I do know that the installer allows /home to go on one drive and / to go on another drive as I have tested
that feature on my iBM M41 Desktop with dual ide drives.

It's beta2 now, MX-14_13.98_386-xfce
When released it will appear as an antiX MX edition on Distrowatch.

They're doing a wonderful job on this. Got the b2 installed on my P3 Tualatin 1.4 with 512m ram and an old radeon 7500/64m. I prefer straight antiX for this machine, but MX is doing remarkably well. Can't wait till they make this official, it's another keeper.

I tried the beta 2 Nd beta 2 patched ISO's and it's looking very good to me.

Grub legacy put me off Antix so good to see grub 2 in MX

Vokoscreen fell over in both versions with an ffmpeg problem and I failed to install pulseaudio but it's early days yet.

My other problem was with the spam bot questions when I tried to register at the forum, the questions might keep out a lot of normal users as well as the spam bots.

What common animal does a tilde represent?. how should I know if google don't. :D

This is another one of those things that's put there specifically to uh.. solidify the job security of philosophers...

They'll wonder about those tildes for centuries...

Or until the net is totally assimilated by a newly sentient spam filter...

At which point they'll have other problems.

What common animal does a tilde represent?
Now I'm going to be up all night. Somebody please post the answer. If your sitting up in a tree stand and a tilde walks by, have you been drinking to much? Googled tilde and hit image search and saw a girl in her undies...Tilde Froling.

I registered on Mepis Community Forums many years ago, so I've never even seen that silly question.
My guess would be snakes.
Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilde ) provides the answer (I think....:-) ):
It is sometimes used in Rogue-like games to represent water or snakes.
Now I'm stuck with another mystery; what are 'rogue like games' and why does the Forum Admin believe that all new forum visitors must be either 'non-spamming rogue like game players' or spammers..?.:-)

Never mind the snakey stuff..........:-)

Looks like the MX-14 beta3 public release will be coming up soon.
I used the beta2-beta3 patch to create the beta3 .iso; then burned the "pre-release beta3" to a CD (678 MB).
Booted the live-cd on my laptop. It's getting better all the time...:-). Time to install it on my test-system.

I Installed MX-14 pre-beta3 .iso on my test-system. Runs fine.
I'm not sure whether this beta3 will still be made available as a public beta3 release. Over the last 2 weeks a lot of fixes and updates went into it, resulting in a pre-RC1 version (via a pre-beta3_pre-RC1 patch). I installed pre-RC1 here a couple of days ago. RC1 may be released instead of beta3.

My software never has bugs. It just develops random features.
If debugging is the process of removing bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in.
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0

I will be playing with RC2 later. I spent some heavy lifting fixing.
