RIP Mr. Spock

Talking about SolydXK, another distribution or totally off-topic but within the Rules ? It's the right place!

RIP Mr. Spock

Postby Deleted User 2764 » 27 Feb 2015 19:34

Today is a sad day especially for Trekkies (Star Trek Fans). Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock) passed away at age 83. I grew up on Star Trek and Mr. Spock was an inspiration to me to get into computers and electronics at an early age. We lost a great person, great actor and a legend.

I definitely think Mr. Nimoy did that and then some! May he live long and prosper in spirit as well. He and his work will never be forgotten.

I am one of those who grew up watching Star Trek in the 60's. Sad to hear of Leonard Nimoy's (Spock's) passing.

Another here who watched him from the original serie of Star Trek through to the current films. An actor who unfortunately got type cast to the role of Spock but a damm good actor none the less, who will be missed.

^ this one is classic.

I grew up with the action figures and watched the cartoons.
I also teared up when they buried Spock in Star Trek II.

He came back from that one.
I don't think he is coming back from this one.

Unlike the apparent majority, I first came upon Mr Nimoy as 'Paris' in "Mission Impossible". I hated him 'cause he'd replaced one of my all time favourite actors, Martin Landau. Then I found "Star Trek" and I learned the error of my ways. Both were outstanding actors and I loved them equally.

Thank you Mr Nimoy for your talented dedication to your craft which produced countless hours of entertainment for several generations.

[eulogizing Spock] We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted, in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most.... [voice breaks] human.

Too bad this forum doesn't have a +1, Thumbs Up, Like or stars. Hinto, I would have given that 10 stars. Thank you. It needed to be said.

Star Trek is my favourite series and it is really sad form me that Mr. Spock is no longer with us. He made a good job paying his character.
