DOCKY, getting it to work in SolydX

Postby phazon1 » 18 Oct 2014 13:33

Hello;

So I have been cheating on SolydX with Mint, and cheating on Mint with SolydX for about a year. I like them both and try to give them equal props. Does that make me shallow? Anyway, I was able to get "Docky" working in Mint with no problem, but when I go to download, and install it on SolydX, I get the following caution window...
One or more running instances of xscreensaver or xlockmore have been detected on this system. Because of incompatible library changes, the upgrade of the GNU libc library will leave you unable to authenticate to these programs. You should arrange for these programs to be restarted or stopped before continuing this upgrade, to avoid locking your users out of their current sessions.
I chose cancel because I do not fully understand the risks.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to proceed?

Thanks

I have Docky running on SolydK.
Don't know that I have ever seen that message.
With the latest UP my Docky seems to be more stable.
It used to disappear alot and that seems to have gone away for the most part.

As suggested in the thread, I used the

Code: Select all

killall xscreensaver
and

Code: Select all

killall xlockmore
command in the terminal and wnet on with the installation.

I don't seem to have broken anything. Docky runs fine, but it would not enlarge the icons when mousing over them until I enabled compositing in the "windows manager tweaks" in the settings manager.

Now it works as expected.

Cheers

Docky disappears periodically. Any way to make it stay?
