Schoelje

Thanks for all the work on SolydX Its the best XFCE distro out there, by a long shot.... :D
The 'community' repo is a fine idea. There are many XFCE users (like me) who choose it not for its 'lightness", but just prefer the DE. The more 'extras' available are a big plus.

Looking forwards to seeing new packages in 'community' repo
Perhaps someone with the proper knowledge could compose a tutorial on the community repo and how to submit things to add things there, making .debs. et?. (that would not be me... ...)
For me, compiling from source, sometimes works, sometimes-not.. Making debs--no clue.

just one question: that double-folder between the n-m and the clock is what? it's not picking the oxygen theming
It should have been the update manager, but I won't have time to check that until the kids go to bed tonight.

[EDIT]
Solved.

Whisker menu rocks!! Really love this.
It's not the software that's free; it's you.

WhiskerMenu is now available directly from the repos
(thanks to our new 'packager' "zerozero") :P
Its in the "community" repo.
To see it you have to add 'community' to your sources.

Code: Select all

gksudo mousepad /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://packages.solydxk.nl/ solydxk main upstream import community

Code: Select all

apt update

Code: Select all

apt install xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin
This works much better than what's being put on the website! If you follow those steps, you must add an OpenSuse repo!!!

Thanks!!!
Love Whisker menu!

Yes, i found it real strange to see that i had to add a repo from OpenSuse. Haven't done that.

Moved to "Community Packages Proposals".

I propose to move the packages from "community" to "main": it's the default menu in SolydX.

I would agree with moving it to main since it would make updating a little less involved for me. (I try to keep the community repo disabled on my machine when not needed.)

HOT KEY for Whisker Menu

Postby GeneC » 04 Oct 2013 17:06

Add a HOT KEY to launch WhiskerMenu

XFCE Settings Manager > keyboard > application shortcuts > add >

Code: Select all

 xfce4-popup-whiskermenu
Select hot key of your choice... (Supr_L "Windows Key", in my case).
