Hello from Canada

Postby Riao » 15 Apr 2014 23:40

I've been using Linux for about the last 5 years and have familiarized myself with mostly Debian-based distros and used LMDE for quite a while. It should be said that I am by no means an expert; I am a blue-collar worker and use computers as a hobby. I'm still learning new things all the time!

I just installed SolydK about a month ago and installed the update today and was surprised by having no issues whatsoever! I had come to the forums here often, lurking, finding answers to questions and thought I should actually post something, if only to express my enthusiasm for this distro!

Welcome to the distro and to the forum!

I'm pleased you had such an easy time of the UP! I'm happy to say that most do but there are always those with unique situations/configurations that present challenges.

Hi Riao, and welcome to our forum.
I'm glad the UP went well. Like ScottQuier said, it's impossible to it easy for everybody. So, good to hear you're happy with it.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Yeah I'm aware that just because I had such an easy time with the update this time that's not necessarily an indicator that I will never have difficulty with a future update. I've had a couple breakages with LMDE updates before so I know about the potentials. I was actually fully prepared to spend a few hours at my machine expecting SOMETHING to happen so when everything went so smoothly it was a very pleasant surprise (if not a little boring! ;) ).
